Marku BaenzigerMarkus Baenziger is a Swiss-born artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a Professor at Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania. He received a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York City and an MFA in sculpture from Yale University. His work is represented by the Edward Thorp Gallery in New York City. He is a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship award, and has received awards, fellowships, and residencies that include State of Connecticut Commission on the Arts, Yale Norfolk Fellowship, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts Summer ‘14 Open Studio Residency, Weir Farm Artist Residency, Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts & Sciences Artist Residency, and La Napoule Art Foundation Residency Program. He has had solo shows at List Gallery, Swarthmore College; the Louise Jones Brown Gallery, Duke University; Bonakdar Jancou Gallery, NYC; Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, NYC; Cohen Gallery, NYC; and the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery, Haverford College. He has also exhibited at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; the Walton Arts Center, Fayetteville, AR; the Yale University Art Gallery; the Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa, FL; the Hillwood Art Museum, Brookville, NY; the Florida Atlantic University Gallery; the Swiss Institute, NYC; Zabriskie Gallery, NYC; WithSpace Gallery, Beijing, China; and C/O Gallery, Oslo, Norway, among others. His work can be found in the collections of the Walker Art Center, MN; the Agnes Gund Collection, NY, and numerous private collections. His work has been widely reviewed by the Artforum, Art in America, Arts & Antiques, Sculpture Magazine, the New York Times, the New York Sun, the Art Newspaper, the Village Voice, Philadelphia Inquirer, and others. Markus was part of the Bhubaneswar Art Trail 2018 in Odisha, India curated by Jagannath Panda and Premjish.
